At least three members of the Oregon-Idaho chapter attended a rally on the steps of the Oregon State capitol on April 4 to advocate for legislation that has been introduced to the 2013 session. The laws would limit guns in schools and in the capitol building, require background checks for all gun purchases, and require applicants to pass a firing test for a concealed handgun license.
Along with those in support of the legislation were a nearly equal number of opponents. Chances for passage of any of these bills are uncertain. A hearing is scheduled for April 5 on all four bills. MFSA members are urged to contact their legislators with their opinions.
