The Serviceberry: Fall Book Study

Oregon-Idaho MFSA Fall Book Study

The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer

Four sessions: September 23, 30, October 7, 14

6:30-8:00 p.m. PT/7:30-9:00 p.m. MT

Plan now to join us in September and October to read and discuss The Serviceberry. The psalmist proclaims that the Earth belongs to God, yet our neglect of this sacred gift has led to ecological crises. Robin Wall Kimmerer depicts the serviceberry as a metaphor for the flourishing of creation that deserves our respect. Drawing on Scripture, Indigenous wisdom, and Kimmerer’s insights, we will examine how gratitude, reciprocity, and justice prompt us to care for creation. Join us as we cultivate a right relationship with the Earth that leads to the flourishing of life.

We will meet for four Tuesdays, beginning September 23, from 6:30 to 8:00 Pacific Time, or 7:30 to 9:00 Mountain Time. You can order the book online, but consider supporting a local bookstore instead.
